'Girl Looking Beyond' Quilt by Aimee Lim (2Quilters)

Aimee Lim is a self-taught quilter from Singapore who co-founded 2Quilters LLP. She used the Girl With A Pearl Earring FPP Quilt pattern from Pride and Joy Quilting to create The Girl Looking Beyond quilt to show how one can create beautiful quilts with simple instructions. Aimee quilted a vignette of cobblestones and village houses in the quilt’s background to convey a powerful emotion of empowerment and going beyond boundaries. 

Each section of the Woman’s portrait is quilted densely with colour-matched threads and using solid colour fabrics, except for the ‘pearl’ earring, which is a yarn-dyed cotton/linen fabric woven with metallic yarn. It is the only spot in the quilt that was left unquilted.

Aimee, as a passionate quilt maker, hopes to inspire young and young-at-heart girls to celebrate their womanhood with their heads held high and turn their hope and passion to make the world a beautiful and glorious place to live in.
