Jalene is a fashion designer and artisanal jeans maker who is passionate about the craftsmanship behind making clothing as an art form. Her signature designs are structured pieces that have a soft feel, striking a balance between femininity and masculinity. 

From design and patternmaking, to sewing and finishing, every piece is made in her atelier in Singapore. She makes craft denim products through her brand @pinheadsdenim and creates one-of-a-kind pieces using couture techniques through her design studio @kinquodesigns. See her work on Instagram @jalenedesign.

Emergence of Thalassa is a tribute to transformation and resilience. Barbie stands poised as forms of water envelop her - a metaphor for strength amidst change. She wears handsewn bell-bottomed jeans, frayed to evoke waterfalls, and a top that cascades into a hand-embroidered train, reminiscent of ocean waves. A Manta Ray sculpture forms her “wings”, a spectral totem born from her determination to overcome, surging through imagined tides with grace. 

The piece draws from the amorphous shapes of water and its movement, symbolising how we emerge from challenges not only intact, but transformed - fluid, evolving, and undeniably alive.
